Friday night was the second Bloomfield Depot Street car show of 2026. I missed the April event, but did not want to miss it this month! I nearly did, however — my son had taken my daily driver out for some supplies and late Taco Bell, then arrived home and couldn’t find my wallet. I did not want to leave the house without the ability to buy more fuel, so he and I searched the car inside and out. He finally found it after we searched for nearly an hour!

Because I was late arriving, I didn’t get my normal parking spot at Bloomfield City Hall, so we parked around the corner from it. No one down Depot St. could see me where I was, and I couldn’t see what was happening down Depot Street, but at least we made it. Our daughter Katie also joined us there, which was nice! We met lots of great folks! We left about 8 p.m.

According to a post of Facebook, they had about 130 cars show up. I’m not sure how they crammed an additional 100 cars on Depot Street, but we’ll see how things look next month!

METHODIST SECOND CAMPUS SHOW?? I hear there’s supposed to be a car show at the near-to-me second campus of the local Methodist Church. Can’t find anything about it on social media yet. We have our normal monthly car cruise on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. The day before Rooster Run General Store is hosting a car cruise, so it will be a very busy weekend.

The same day as our next car cruise, the local fire department is having a car show too. It’ll probably mean out-of-towners seeking a trophy will go there, while the car cruise regulars like me will do our usual thing.

55 CHEVY UPDATE. Well, not much new to report on the wagon. Drove nice all the way to Bloomfield and back. No surprises. I used Eastwood Rust encapsulator on the driver’s door and using a 2-inch brush, I missed a LOT of areas. I really need to get one of those small rollers and go over it all again.

I love my Rat Fink floor mats, but without carpet on the floorboard, they slide all around. Need carpet!

I’m working on a YouTube video about GPS speedometers, specifically the G10 model I use in the Chevy, with a look at the first, very simple one I tried out in the beginning. They continue to make new ones and update the old design. What’s new is that they are combining information taken from the OBD system to help create a display with lots more data. That’s slick as hell, though there’s no 55 Chevy equipped with OBD, lol!

One of the warnings I plan for my video is for buyers who invest in one of these displays to be certain they know what they are getting. If it is designed to use with OBD, you’re going to be sorely disappointed if you try to make it work on a pre-OBD vehicle.

I need to edit some video, so I’ll ring off for now. I need to reshoot some video for this topic tomorrow.
